Sidewalk Maintenance Program
The City of Milford is divided into five sections for sidewalks; each summer the City Inspector will walk an entire section of the City (see map below). Sidewalks will be marked where the offset between blocks is ½ inch or greater, cracks are greater than ½ inch, severely spalled surfaces, and other hazardous conditions. For complete sidewalk information, see the Sidewalk Maintenance Guide.
In 2008 the inspection area is located primarily in the downtown area; however, the Inspector will respond to citizen complaints in any area of the city. If the Inspector determines that a sidewalk is in disrepair, the property owner will receive a notice explaining the defect and be given 90 days to make the repair. The property owner may be eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the repair cost up to $250.
