Free Class Offering: Love our Land-Benefits of Native Trees

Love Our Land

*How familiar are you with the trees in your neighborhood?

*When you take a walk, how many tree species can you identify?

*Are the species 'native' or 'nonnative'?

*If they are 'nonnative', are they 'invasive'?

The answers to these questions--among others--are what scientists use to determine how healthy your community forest is, and what type of benefits these trees (and other plants) provide.

On Saturday, May 18th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Park, Doug Gilbert, ecologist and co-founder of Love Our Land, will speak about "Native Trees & the Benefits they Provide". Doug will cover common native and nonnative trees, teach participants to identify some of them at Riverside Park, and discuss ecological services provided by them, including stormwater management, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity regeneration.

If you are a fan of trees and nature, you won't want to miss this interactive experience that may inspire you to contribute to conservation efforts right here in Milford.
